Sir,

We are in receipt of your letter dated 13.02.20 1 1 addressed to Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. We appreciate the concern shown by you for the Buddhist heritage of the country.
I am proud to inform you that Patna Circle of Archaeological Survey of India is maintaining about 30 Buddhist monuments/sites of national importance (21 in Bthar & 9 in eastern U.P.) spread in somewhat remote areas, many of them being of core attraction to the tourists, domestic as well as foreign. Nalanda, Rajgir, Vaishali, Sarnath, Kushinagar, Kesariya, Nandangarh etc. are some of them. All the Buddhist sites under this Circle are in fairly good state of preservation. As such we trust that your letter is not aimed at our jurisdiction.

However, there may be some more Buddhist sites awaiting attention. If any specific case is indicated by you it will be surely looked into.

With regards,
Yours faithfully,

Superintendent Archeologist
