Buddhist site at Manikyala , Rawalpindi


Location : It  is situated a little off the main highway (Grand Trunk Road), sixteen miles southeast of Rawalpindi.


 Period:  It was founded by the Bactrian Greeks on the usual rectangular grid pattern in the 2nd century BC


 Type of Structure:  Ancient Stupa and Monastery



Present Condition :  


(i)                 Extensive exploration and excavation required on the site.


(ii)               Need of promotional and tourism plan.


(iii)             Restoration work needed.


(iv)             Preservation processes are to be initiated
