By the grace of epochal visits of the Precious Guru, Padma Sambhava in the eight century to Bhutan, our fatherland has been Buddhist. The sunlight of the precious teachings of Buddha Sakyamuni bathed this land and people over a thousand years since then. The blessed patron of Buddhist teachings is today His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the monarch of the last of the Vajrayana Buddhist Kingdoms, governing like the ideal wheel-bearing universal monarch. The footpaths that the Precious Guru took and the landmarks he left are the treasures of our history and culture.

The landmarks and sites that honour the Buddha’s journey of enlightenment are for his followers’ lifeblood that links them to his epoch making path that has diversified and spread all over Asia. Mr. Sidhartha Gauri has dedicated himself through ‘The Buddhist Forum’ he leads to a campaign for the preservation of ancient Buddhist sites and monuments all over Asia. As a humble Buddhist scholar, I would like to express my admiration and moral support for the timely and profound work of ‘The Buddhist Forum’ and wish it great success. Buddhist sites and monuments are the common heritage of mankind which always moved their viewers to struggle and continue their journeys to enlightenment. As pilgrims on that path, we need those landmarks and sites as pointers to the marvelous inward journey. Future generations will need them no less.
